- CEMS – GLOBAL ALLIANCE IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION
CEMS is a global alliance of academic and corporate institutions dedicated to educating and preparing future generations of global business leaders to enter into a multilingual, multicultural and interconnected business world through the CEMS Master’s in International Management.
Alliance was established by European universities in 1988, during the years it has expanded to become global alliance. Only one school per country is eligible to join the alliance. SGH Warsaw School of Economics is the only academic institution member of CEMS in Poland and therefore it is able to offer its courses as part of the CEMS Master’s in International Management.
The programme is run by CEMS – Global Alliance in Management Education – which consists of:
- 34 CEMS Member Schools and a presence on every continent
- 69 Corporate Partners (multinational companies)
- 7 Social Partners (NGOs)
Selection process for CEMS MIM programme starts early in the semester – in October. Preparation is the key.
Students should KEEP in mind the following requirements, when applying to CEMS MIM :
- English Language proficiency certificate (only certain certificates are accepted),
- Second Foreign language certificate at least B2 level,
- Confirmed student activity at the university.
- CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences
The CIVICA European University Consortium includes prestigious European universities in the field of social sciences: Bocconi University (Italy), Central European University (Austria), European University Institute (Italy), Hertie School (Germany), National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (Romania ), Sciences Po, Paris (France), Stockholm School of Economics (Sweden), The London School of Economics and Political Sciences (UK). On March 23, 2022, two new universities were admitted to the consortium: SGH Warsaw School of Economics and IE University (Spain), increasing the number of members to 10.
- MAGNA CHARTA UNIVERSITATUM
The Magna Charta Observatory of Fundamental University Values and Rights is a non-profit organisation based in Bologna, founded by the University of Bologna and the European University Association (EUA).
The Magna Charta Observatory aims to gather information, express opinions and prepare documents relating to the respect for, and protection of, the fundamental university values and rights laid down in the Magna Charta Universitatum signed in Bologna in 1988 by 388 Rectors of worldwide main universities.
- PIM – PARTNERSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT
PIM, Partnership in International Management, is a consortium of leading international business schools, founded in 1973. Each member institution represents the highest degree of excellence in the fields of business administration and management, demonstrates leadership in their geographic region and delivers an MBA or a graduate-equivalent degree in management.
PIM facilitates the development of international cooperation among members, fostering the development of joint programs, students and faculty exchange, joint research and cooperation among faculty members and researchers. - PECSA – POLISH EUROPEAN COMMUNITY STUDIES ASSOCIATION
Polish European Community Studies Association – PECSA was created in 1989 by scientist from the best Polish universities, lead by professor Andrzej Stępniak, with the support of the European Commission. What distinguishes PECSA is the inter- and multidisciplinary scientific background of its members. European studies projects and research prepared and conducted by PECSA require integration of knowledge from different fields: economics, political science, international relations, law, administrative sciences, sociology and anthropology.
PECSA is a member of European Community Studies Association (ECSA) international network that was created by the European Commission to promote European integration as a teaching subject. As a result of Europe 2020 Strategy, ECSA in cooperation with the European Commission and Jean Monnet professors participated in actions that aim at preparation of the best possible system of teaching European integration in changing international environment. As one of the pioneers in promoting the idea of European integration in the scientific and academic environment in Poland, is the author and co-author of numerous publications in this area. ECSA has charters in 28 EU countries and 32 other countries, for example USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland, Maroco.
- EDAMBA - European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration
EDAMBA, the ‘European Doctoral programmess Association in Management & Business Administration’ is an international non-profit association currently operating in 28 countries. Our mission is to develop common ideas, values, evaluation criteria, standards, and practices to assess and enhance the quality of doctoral education, through the exchange of experiences and cooperation in a global network. EDAMBA members are committed to creating and sharing initiatives and achieving excellence whilst appreciating and promoting collaboration, diversity and community building.
EDAMBA aims to achieve its mission through the development and implementation of three activity pillars:
The main current activities of the Association are the Annual Meetings, the Research Summer Academy, the Consortium on Doctoral Supervision, the Thesis Competition.
- The Annual Meeting: The Annual meetings have become during the years the main platform for discussing common problems and issues, discussing impressive changes in the doctoral landscape and promoting research.
- The Summer Research Academy: operating since1992 with its international dimension has been the privileged forum for dialogue on research paradigms and methodologies while building a strong scholarly network.
- The EDAMBA-EIASM Consortium of Doctoral Supervision: The Winter Academy launched in 2008 aims at developing competent supervisors for addressing the shortage of qualified faculty in Business and Management studies in the European Universities and Business Schools. In the steps of the Winter Academy, as a joint initiative between EIASM and EDAMBA in shaping the new landscape of global doctoral education, EDAMBA runs as of January 2012 a joint workshop on the importance of supervision in doctoral education.
- The Thesis Competition: first launched in 2003, iIt aims at distinguishing high-quality doctoral dissertations which have significantly contributed to new knowledge in the areas of business studies and management.

- EUCEN - European Universities Continuing Education Network
EUCEN is an association of european higher education institutions with legal status, located in geographical Europe, which offer the highest level degree or diploma in their own country. It has 185 members in 34 countries. The association goals are:
- Enable members to serve most effectively the people of Europe, particularly in their own regions, through the provision of high quality lifelong learning
- Influence the development of university lifelong learning policy throughout Europe
- Promote a European model of lifelong learning based on democracy, equal rights and social justice
- Contribute to a lifelong learning policy that takes into account economic and social needs
- Promote interaction in order to identify and mobilise resources within the Association network
One of the EUCEN tasks is to coordinate projects finansed by UE and organise international conference EUCEN, in 2014 such conference took place at SGH.
- BUP - Baltic University Programme
The Baltic University Programme is one of the largest university cooperations in the world, with about 90 participating universities in the Baltic Sea Region, cooperating for education and research in Sustainable Development and Democracy.
The Baltic University Programme (BUP) strives to find novel ways of interaction among universities and between universities and society. The main aim is to enhance strong regional educational and research communities, but also to foster a greater awareness on our focus areas. The BUP focuses on questions of sustainable development, environmental protection, and democracy in the Baltic Sea region. We support the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful and sustainable development.
SGH was a member in 90s and now in 2016 reactivated its full membership.
- CESEENET - Central and South-East European PhD Network
The purpose of Central, East and South-East European PhD Network (CESEENET) is to promote and facilitate cooperation within the Universities from Central, East and South-East Europe that offer PhD education in Economics and Business in order to increase the quality of their PhD programmes. The network will enable universities to organize
- common courses in the specific fields of study,
- research seminars,
- exchange PhD students and
- intensify research cooperation
The participating schools will benefit from the network activities, while maintaining the integrity of their accredited PhD programmes within the network.
- Santander Universidades
Santander Universidades is one of the key CSR projects of Santander Bank Polska and Santander Group. It is a global initiative supporting higher education by providing training and courses for the academic community.
Applicants can enroll to all the projects financed by the Santander Group is published on the platform santander-grants.com. On the platform one can apply for selected projects not only in Poland, but also those organized by Santander from Spain, Germany, Great Britain and even South America. Since 2002, Santander has spent almost EUR 2bn for education and granted 630,000 scholarships.
- SAR Network - Scholars at Risk Network
Scholars at Risk is an international network of institutions and individuals whose mission it is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom.
By arranging temporary academic positions at member universities and colleges, Scholars at Risk offers safety to scholars facing grave threats, so scholars’ ideas are not lost and they can keep working until conditions improve and they are able to return to their home countries.
Scholars at Risk also provides advisory services for scholars and hosts, campaigns for scholars who are imprisoned or silenced in their home countries, monitoring of attacks on higher education communities worldwide, and leadership in deploying new tools and strategies for promoting academic freedom and improving respect for university values everywhere.
- SUERF - The European Money and Finance Forum
The European Money and Finance Forum is an independent, non-profit network association of central banks, supervisors, financial institutions, academic institutions, and financial sector practitioners. It provides a unique forum for information, research, networking and debate on financial and monetary issues, financial regulation and supervision, and monetary policy.
SUERF’s strength lies in bringing together three pillars of members: central banks and supervisors, financial industry representatives and academics. Members are drawn from all over Europe and beyond. SUERF is soundly governed by its Council of Management, which comprises high-ranking representatives drawn from SUERF’s three pillars of members.
SUERF’s objectives are:
- To promote contacts between practitioners (whether in the public or private sector) and academics, and to act as a forum for the discussion of monetary and financial issues;
- To organise international events and meetings, focussing on topics central to members’ interests and, as appropriate, jointly with other like-minded bodies;
- To sponsor and publish policy-oriented, practitioner-friendly, original research in these areas by both academics and practitioners.
